Central Japan's baseball home

Vantelin Dome Nagoya sits in the heart of Japan's third-largest metropolitan area. The 36,000-seat dome offers year-round comfort and serves as the perfect gateway to Nagoya's criminally underrated food scene.

The Dragons experience

The Chunichi Dragons are central Japan's team, with a loyal fanbase that fills the dome for every home game. The organized cheering from the outfield is impressive, and the rivalry games against the Giants and Tigers bring extra intensity.

Getting there

JR Ozone Station (5-minute walk) or Nagoya Dome-mae Yada Station on the Meijo subway line (5-minute walk). From Nagoya Station, subway takes about 20 minutes. Nagoya is a major Shinkansen stop — 1 hour 40 minutes from Tokyo, 50 minutes from Osaka.

Seats

Panorama A: ¥3,500-4,500 ($23-30) — best all-around choice. Outfield: ¥1,500-2,000 ($10-13) — join the Dragons faithful.

How to buy tickets

Available through the Dragons official site. Nagoya's central location makes it easy to catch a game during a cross-country Shinkansen trip.

Nagoya food: Japan's most unique cuisine

Nagoya has its own food culture called "Nagoya-meshi" — unlike anything in Tokyo or Osaka. Miso katsu (pork cutlet with red miso sauce), tebasaki (spicy chicken wings), kishimen (flat noodles), hitsumabushi (grilled eel three ways), and Taiwan ramen (despite the name, invented in Nagoya). The dome serves many of these, but the full experience requires a post-game visit to the restaurants around Nagoya Station.

Summary

Vantelin Dome + Nagoya-meshi is an underrated combination. While tourists flock to Tokyo and Osaka, Nagoya quietly delivers one of Japan's best food-and-sports experiences.
