Central Hiroshima, brand new
EDION Peace Wing Hiroshima opened in February 2024. It's a 30,000-seat football-specific stadium in the center of Hiroshima — a 5-minute tram ride from the Peace Memorial Park. Sanfrecce Hiroshima finally have a home that matches their ambition.
Why it matters
Sanfrecce previously played at the old Hiroshima Big Arch, which was far from the city center with poor public transport. The new stadium changed everything. City-center location means higher attendance, better atmosphere, and easier access for tourists combining football with Hiroshima sightseeing.
The stadium
Football-specific. No running track. Steep, close stands. Modern facilities throughout. The design references Hiroshima's message of peace. Clean lines, open concourses, views of the surrounding hills.
Getting there
Hiroshima streetcar to Genbaku Dome-mae, then 5-minute walk. From JR Hiroshima Station: 15-minute walk or 5 minutes by tram. You can walk from Peace Memorial Park in 10 minutes.
Seats and prices
Main stand: ¥4,000-6,000 ($27-40). Back stand: ¥3,000-4,500 ($20-30). Goal end: ¥2,500-3,500 ($17-23).
The Hiroshima day plan
Morning: Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Lunch: Hiroshima okonomiyaki at Okonomimura. Afternoon: Sanfrecce match at Peace Wing. Evening: Sake bar in the city center. Next day: Ferry to Miyajima for the floating torii gate.
