The best-located stadium in NPB

Yokohama Stadium — locals call it "Hamasta" — sits 2 minutes from JR Kannai Station and 5 minutes from Yokohama Chinatown. No other professional baseball stadium in Japan offers this combination of transport convenience and surrounding attractions.

The BayStars moment

The Yokohama DeNA BayStars have gone from perennial underdog to genuine contender. Their 2024 Japan Series run energized the city, and fan attendance is at an all-time high. The atmosphere has transformed — what used to be a relaxed, family-friendly crowd now includes passionate supporter sections rivaling any team in NPB.

Seats

Infield reserved: ¥3,500-5,500 ($23-37). Wing seats (added stands with elevated views): ¥3,000-4,000 ($20-27). Outfield cheering: ¥1,800-2,500 ($12-17). The stadium is compact — about 34,000 seats — so even upper deck seats have decent sightlines.

Stadium food highlights

Mikan ice (shaved ice with mandarin orange — summer essential). Kiyoken Shumai bento (Yokohama's iconic dumpling lunch box). BayStars Ale (house craft beer). Food options have expanded significantly since the DeNA ownership era began.

The Yokohama day plan

Morning: Cup Noodles Museum or Yamashita Park. Lunch: Chinatown xiaolongbao. Afternoon/evening: BayStars game. Post-game: Minato Mirai waterfront night illumination. All within walking distance.

Rain note

Hamasta is outdoor. Bring a clear rain poncho (umbrellas are banned). If it rains out, Chinatown is your backup — 5-minute walk, hundreds of restaurants.

How to buy tickets

BayStars official site. Weekend games and Giants/Tigers matchups sell fastest. Book 1-2 weeks ahead for those.
