Newer Japanese stadiums (ES CON Field, EDION Peace Wing Hiroshima, LaLa arena) have good wheelchair accessibility. Older stadiums vary. All NPB and J-League venues have some form of accessible seating, but booking often requires a phone call rather than online purchase.
How to book accessible seats
Contact the team directly
Most teams require you to call or email their ticket office to reserve wheelchair-accessible seats. Online ticket systems rarely show accessible seating as a bookable option. This is the biggest barrier for international visitors who don't speak Japanese.
Ask your hotel for help
Hotel concierges can call the team's ticket office on your behalf. Explain your needs and the concierge can handle the Japanese-language phone call. Most business hotels and all major hotels offer this service.
What to expect
Wheelchair spaces are typically located in the lower bowl with clear sightlines. A companion seat is usually provided adjacent. Accessible restrooms are available at all modern stadiums. Ramps and elevators provide access to seating areas in newer venues. Older stadiums may have limited elevator access.

ES CON Field: Excellent accessibility throughout. Tokyo Dome: Good accessible seating with elevator access. Koshien: Older stadium with more limited accessibility, though improvements have been made. Nissan Stadium: Built for the 2002 World Cup with full accessibility compliance.
Getting to the stadium
Tokyo and Osaka train systems have extensive elevator and ramp access. Rural stations may have fewer facilities. Check station accessibility on the Ekispert or Navitime apps before planning your route.
