Tokyo Verdy's home ground
Tokyo Verdy — one of Japan's oldest football clubs — play at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chofu City, about 25 minutes from Shinjuku by Keio Line train. The 49,970-seat venue is shared with FC Tokyo.
About Tokyo Verdy
Verdy were one of the original J-League clubs in 1993 and dominated the league's early years. After a long spell in the lower divisions, they returned to J1 in 2024. The green-clad supporters bring a sense of history and passion that newer clubs can't replicate.
Getting to Ajinomoto Stadium
Keio Line from Shinjuku to Tobitakyu Station: 25 minutes, ¥220. Walk 5 minutes to the stadium. On match days, signs and crowd flow guide you from the station exit to the gates.
Seats and prices
Main stand: ¥4,000-5,500 ($27-37). Back stand: ¥3,000-4,000 ($20-27). Goal end: ¥2,000-3,000 ($13-20). The large capacity means tickets are usually available even on short notice.
The stadium experience
Ajinomoto Stadium has a running track, so the pitch is farther from the stands than at football-specific venues. The upside is the stadium's size — when a big crowd shows up, the atmosphere in a 50,000-seat venue is impressive. Food stalls set up outside the stadium on match days with local Chofu restaurants serving special menus.
