The Tamagawa Classico
FC Tokyo vs Kawasaki Frontale — the Tamagawa Classico. Named after the Tama River that separates the two cities. This is one of J-League's most heated rivalries. When these two meet, Ajinomoto Stadium fills up and the atmosphere intensifies. If this fixture falls during your visit, prioritize it.
Getting there
Keio Line from Shinjuku to Tobitakyu Station: 25 minutes, ¥220. Walk 5 minutes. From Shibuya: Keio Inokashira to Meidaimae, transfer to Keio Line, about 35 minutes.
The stadium
49,970 seats with a running track. The pitch is farther than at football-specific stadiums. Choose lower-tier goal-end seats for the closest view, or main stand mid-level for the tactical overview. The large capacity means most matches have ticket availability.
Match-day food
Local Chofu restaurants set up outside the stadium on match days. The variety changes each time. Arrive 60-90 minutes before kickoff for the best selection.

Main stand: ¥4,000-5,500 ($27-37). Back stand: ¥3,000-4,000 ($20-27). Goal end: ¥2,000-3,000 ($13-20).
