Japan's biggest rivalry
The Hanshin Tigers vs Yomiuri Giants rivalry is the most intense in Japanese sports โ comparable to Red Sox-Yankees in MLB, Real Madrid-Barcelona in soccer, or Celtics-Lakers in the NBA. When these teams meet, stadiums sell out instantly and the atmosphere is electric.

The 7th-inning jet balloon ceremony with both fan groups is spectacular. These games sell out weeks in advance โ buy tickets as early as possible.
Watching at Tokyo Dome
When the Tigers visit Tokyo Dome, thousands of Tigers fans make the pilgrimage from Osaka. The visitor section becomes a wall of yellow and noise. It's impressive to see the Tigers' fan power even in enemy territory.
Rivalry etiquette
Choose a side and sit in the correct section. Do NOT wear Tigers gear in the Giants section (or vice versa). This is taken very seriously. If you want to be neutral, sit in the infield reserved section and enjoy the spectacle without declaring loyalty.

Regular season matchups happen about 25 times per year. Check the NPB schedule for dates. Weekend games at Koshien are the hardest tickets to get. Weekday games at Tokyo Dome are slightly easier. If they meet in the playoffs or Climax Series, expect the most intense atmosphere of the entire season.

Fan club membership (either team) gives you the best shot at advance tickets. Otherwise, check team websites the moment tickets go on sale (usually 1 month before). Resale sites like Ticket Camp sometimes have tickets at premium prices. Convenience store machines occasionally have remaining seats for weekday games.
