B.League games are surprisingly compact
If you're short on time during your Japan trip, B.League basketball is perfect. Games last about 2-2.5 hours β significantly shorter than baseball (3+ hours) or football (2+ hours with travel time).
Game structure
Four 10-minute quarters
Total playing time is 40 minutes, but with timeouts, free throws, and quarter breaks, the actual duration is about 2 hours.
Halftime: 15-20 minutes
B.League halftime shows are entertainment in themselves β cheerleader performances, fan contests, and mascot shows fill the break.
Tip-off times
Saturday: 14:00 or 17:00. Sunday: 13:00 or 14:00. Weekdays (rare): 19:00. Most games are on weekends, making them easy to fit into tourist schedules.
Overtime
If tied, a 5-minute overtime period is played. Further overtimes if still tied. But overtime is relatively uncommon in B.League.
Why it's great for tourists
A 2-hour commitment means you can catch a game and still have time for dinner, sightseeing, or another activity. Indoor arenas mean no weather concerns. And at Β₯3,000-5,000 ($20-33), it's excellent value.
How to buy tickets
Available through the B.LEAGUE official ticket site. Arenas are smaller than baseball stadiums, creating an intimate atmosphere.
