Local food, not chain food
Fukuda Denshi Arena ("Fukuari") is home to JEF United Chiba. The stadium seats about 19,000 — modest by J-League standards. But the match-day food has built a reputation that exceeds the stadium's size, because local Chiba restaurants run the stalls instead of national food truck companies.
The must-eat items
Sausage platter (¥700-900 / $5-6)
Fukuari's signature dish. A plate with 3-4 types of grilled sausage — coarse-ground, chorizo, cheese-filled. The sausages have real meat flavor and a snap when you bite through the casing. Generous portions. The obvious beer pairing.
Aji-fry (¥400-500 / $3)
Fried horse mackerel made with fish from Chiba's fishing ports. The coating is crispy, the fish inside is thick and flaky. Fried to order, so it arrives hot. At ¥400, this might be the best-value item in any J-League stadium. Choose sauce or soy sauce.
Spice curry (¥700-900 / $5-6)
A local curry shop brings their A-game. This isn't the brown roux curry you find at most stadiums. It's built from whole spices — you can taste the cardamom and cumin. Heat level is adjustable. For ¥700, it's cheaper than the same curry at the restaurant.
Other options
Yakitori (charcoal-grilled chicken, 3 skewers ¥500). Takoyaki. Yakisoba. Seafood rice bowls appear on some match days (Chiba is coastal — the fish is local). Draft beer ¥600-800.
Timing
Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff. The sausage stall is the first to sell out — go there immediately. Saturday afternoon games are busiest. Budget ¥1,500-2,500 ($10-17) for a main, a snack, and a beer.
