PayPay Dome Fukuoka Guide: Hawks Baseball and Hakata Ramen

📖 3分で読めます

Japan's most successful franchise

The SoftBank Hawks are Japan's dominant baseball team, with multiple Japan Series titles in recent years. PayPay Dome is their fortress — a 40,000-seat retractable-roof dome that showcases the best of modern Japanese baseball entertainment.

Climate-controlled comfort

Rain, heat, typhoon — nothing affects your experience inside PayPay Dome. The retractable roof means you get the best of both worlds: open-air feel on nice days, full protection when needed. Air-conditioned comfort in Fukuoka's humid summers is a genuine luxury.

Harry Hawk's entrance

Before big games, the Hawks mascot Harry descends from the dome ceiling on a zip-line. It's one of the most dramatic mascot entrances in all of sports and gets the crowd fired up before first pitch.

Hakata food inside the dome

Hakata ramen with rich tonkotsu broth, mentaiko (spicy cod roe) rice balls, motsu nabe, and yatai-style street food. Fukuoka is Japan's food capital and the dome reflects it. Everything is authentic — not tourist-grade stadium food.

Getting there

Tojinmachi Station (subway) is a 15-minute walk. Buses from Hakata Station and Tenjin are more convenient. After the game, Tenjin's nightlife district is a 15-minute bus ride away.

Post-game: Yatai street stalls

Fukuoka's famous yatai (street food stalls) along the Naka River stay open late. A bowl of tonkotsu ramen at a yatai after a Hawks game is the quintessential Fukuoka experience.
